Peter与Norah的相识要回溯至2000年7月的一个夜晚，位在纽约下城东区一间名为Living Room的俱乐部中。当时年仅21岁、在俱乐部表演界中小有知名度的Norah正在该处驻唱，而早已是Muddy Waters， Freddy King，John Lee Hooker以及Big Mama Thornton等蓝调乐巨人最佳战友的Peter Malick，则在命运安排下到此相遇，立刻辨识出她那将撼动整个城市、国家乃至全球乐迷的独特才华。两人随即成为好友，而Peter除了力邀Norah为自己的小型演唱会助阵外，更进而相邀一同灌录作品。尽管Norah谦虚地表示缺乏蓝调的演唱经验，且后来亦与Blue Note唱片公司签约准备发行个人专辑，但在两人之间微妙的音乐化学反应以及Peter锲而不舍的坚持之下，终于促成了此张“N ew York City”作品的诞生！
此张与“Come Away With Me”专辑同期进行录制的作品，是Peter;Malick继“Wrong Side Of My Life”(1998)、“S ons Of The Jet Age”(2000)两张备受好评的专辑之后，个人的第三张录音室作品，虽只收录七首歌曲，但其精彩程度却毫不逊色于任何专辑。从围绕在后911时期的首支单曲‘New York City’，到展现Norah那从未让人听见的完美纯熟蓝调唱腔的‘Strange Trans missions’在内的4首Peter全新创作，再到Norah那带有气声的独特嗓音和Bob Dylan创作完美结合的‘Heart Of Mind’，以及将Sam Maghett名曲重新诠释的‘All& nbsp;Your Love’，此辑不仅神奇地捕捉住Norah那撼动全球乐迷心弦的动人嗓音，与Peter的创作完美平均地调合在一起，更展现出Peter炉火纯青的吉他弹奏技巧，绝对是Peter Malick或是Norah& nbsp;Jones乐迷都不容错过的精彩佳作！
